James "Murk Tha Engineer" Butler is a Music producer, Audio Engineer, Songwriter from Columbus, Georgia where he begin his journey at the age of 9 singing in the church choir. After falling in love playing on the keyboard at his grandmother's house at the age of 15, Murk begin rapping and producing beats for the rap group he and his childhood friends form called "JackBoyz." Over the course in which he self taught himself how to record using Fruity Loops and Sonar Cake walk. In 2004 at the age of 18, Murk joined the U.S. military and served ten years over the course in which he further honed his skill producing music for fellow soldiers. In 2011 after suffering injuries in Iraq, Murk was honorably discharged and begin going to school at Berkley College of Music in Music Production. After receiving his certification in music production. He then moved to Atlanta where he  attended SAE institute of Atlanta where he received his Audio Bachelor of Applied Science with 4.0 GPA. While in school, Murk began his professional career as an intern at Soul Asylum Studios in Atlanta Georgia. Within one year he had already moved up the ranks as becoming a go to audio engineer and music producer amongst the staff. He then moved on to work at Twelve Music Group, an artist development company and recording studio also based in Atlanta Georgia. There he begin recording artist for then Vice-President of A&R at Epic Records Chubbie Baby such as Blacc Youngta and Heavy Camp. He then begin recording for T.I's Record Label Grand Hustle's artist as well such as Young Dro, Yung Booke and Tokyo Jet. He continue freelancing working between 12 music group and  other artist until 2017 where he received an audio engineering opportunity at Patchwerk Recording Studios in Atlanta Georgia. There he continued to service some of music industries hottest artist and business professionals. Murk is currently  producing for American Idol 2021 2nd place winner Willie Spence as well as many others. Murk continues to dedicate his craft into helping  artist create their own perfect audio masterpiece!
